Paying for eBooks with Paypal?

I know this is pretty controversial but sometimes you just cannot find that eBook you want for free, you have to pay.
However, this is proving to be a problem for me as I only have a UK debit card that isn't really used anywhere outside of the UK... most eBookstores are US based and for some reason I haven't found a SINGLE ONE that takes paypal.
Now, I'm not about to get a Credit Card just for the luxury of buying some books so does anyone know any site that accepts payments via Paypal?
If not then could someone just tell me why nobody accepts it, I'm assuming it's to do with Paypal's lack of age verification but that seems odd because many places that sell age restricted items also accept paypal.
