psychology of internet anonymity

I'm looking for resources in the form of books/articles to aid in the composition of a paper on the subject of anonymity vis-a-vis internet/electronic community. I have also been instructed to seek out possible candidates for interview as well--if anyone is aware of any local Boston/Cambridge (MIT is a stone's throw away from my place) professors who have written even cursorily on the subject, names would be great...

4chan occurred to me as a logical place to begin my research, given its propensity for embracing the concept of (pseudo) anonymity.

And its propensity for staying up on research that tangentially relates to it. You'd probably have better luck trolling (in the fish sense) a scholarly article database.

But good luck anyway, I do think it seems like an interesting field.

Have any futurists written on the subject?
