Steven Johnson's stuff on neuroscience and the brain is fascinating.  It's written well for laypeople like me.  Check out "Mind Wide Open" and "Everything Bad Is Good For You"

Malcolm Gladwell also does stuff about psychology and neuroscience, so he's fun to read as well.  "Blink" and "The Tipping Point" are solid reads.

"Freakonomics" by Steven Levitt and Steven Dubner is a great book.  Really weird and fascinating.  Levitt is basically a rogue economist; he uses economist tools to examine peculiar things like cheating in business, schools and Sumo wrestling, how abortion affects crime rates, and the economic status of various names.  Crazy.
