I agree with this guy, as a novel I find it average.
Now, the social theory is the brilliance of it.
At first it seems dystopia lite, compared to 1984, but at the same time it is frightening as much.
I think it is the great temptation about BNW's Offer, a hedonistic, valueless and cultureless society. 1984 offers fear and poverty.
Both 1984 and BNW have a strong grasp on reality but the later managed to capture modern society's spirit better.
Brand New World is tempting, alluring, which is way it's frightening.
It's a great book, though I still prefer 1984 to it.
I find the Savage to be a poor choice for the society critic, perhaps because he was the complete opposite, which makes him quite extreme.
