I don't want to touch the twilight series with a 30 ft. pole, but This leaves me to wonder, is there a series (not a single book) of Vampire related novels out there. Could be vampire or Vampire hunter or vampires as a part of the other dark creatures of the night. Any ideas/recommendations?

You should try reading a Vampire novel by Anne Rice. I've enjoyed every book I've read by her.
Twilight if you're a teenage girl.
Anne Rice if you're into gay romance novels.
If neither, you should just read Dracula and move on.

Charlie Huston's "Joe Pitt Casebooks" are nice. Noir, hard boiled, pulpy, maybe somewhat similar in tone to the Dresden Files (sans the whining). Starts with "Already Dead".
Also, violence (well, obviously - but lots).
I wish there was more supernatural/urban fantasy fiction of his style.. fucking romances.
Already read Dracula but I guess I want some more, Ill check out the Joe Pitt Casebooks. Looks promising. Thanks guys

I know you said no single books, but you really should read I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, if you haven't already.

While I haven't read them myself, I've heard good things about the Necroscope series. Some of the books, at least. Either way, the vampires in that series seem to be sort of like the ones in 30 Days of Night, i.e. actually creepy and not stupid mall goths.
Also, it's not a book, but the Legacy of Kain games have, in my humble opinion, the coolest vampires ever. The series gets extra points because it's written by a woman, about vampires, and it isn't an insipid romance in disguise.

I've played the first one for the ps1 and thought that it was a really cool concept. Also the Vampire:The Masquerade game for PC I thought was a lot of fun and really embodied what I was looking for as far as creatures of the night fiction goes for

Indeed, Kain games are incredible. The original and Soul Reaver are both outstanding, though SR2, BO2 and Defiance are all quite mediocre gameplay-wise.

You could try the Vampire Hunter D novels, there's 10 of them in english already and an 11th is to be finished being printed this fall. They're by the Japanese author Hideyuki Kikuchi.

I've read the first three, and while I love the movies and all (first animu I saw as a lad along with Totoro and Wicked City) they seem to be a bit...lacking. I think it's because either the translator just isn't that great or because Japanese simply doesn't translate well into English.
Either way, they have some pretty neat concepts.

Doesn't Laurel K. Hamilton have some "Vampire Huntress" series that is pretty popular?

Dead Until Dark.
Might as well, since "True Blood" is based on that series.
