Another Rec Thread

A sad day indeed; I am out of books to read, and I turn to /book/ for salvation. Some favorites for typecasting:

Sci-Fi: Hyperion/Endymion, Snow Crash, Battle Royale, Oryx and Crake
Fantasy: Song of Ice and Fire, Carol Berg's Lighthouse duet, The Bas-Lag books
General fiction: Hunter S. Thompson, Apathy and Other Small Victories, Kornwolf, Max Barry's books, Catch-22

I'm planning to pick up The New York Trilogy out of recommendation  next time I'm out, and probably another Stephenson book. I remember also seeing good reviews for The Night Watch, so I may buy that as well.

If you liked GRRM, then you probably won't go wrong with Steven Erikson or Scott Lynch.

Foundation.. but just the first three.
