A Song of Ice and Fire

Any of the seven people that visit /book/ read this series? I'm on book 3 and I gotta say they're pretty addicting. I read books 1 and 2 in about a week each.

I'm so fucking afraid to read those. Back at the days people told me to read the "amazing" fantasy books by Robert Jordan, and they were so horrible I'm still afraid of shitty fantasy sagas. I just can't force myself to try reading the Song of Ice and Fire, because fucking covers look similar, fucking goddamn it. I know it's irrational, but I have an argument supporting my mania here: oftentimes, people that recommend SoIaF ALSO recommend Jordan.

Fucking shit, somebody tell me they are different. Somebody with a clear, rightful distaste to shitty neverending fantasy stories, tell me a Song of Ice and Fire is good.
