I just finished reading The Silence of the Lambs yesterday. I hadn't seen the movie. I found the book very interesting, which surprised me because I usually read sci fi. I'm now working my way through Hannibal.
What do people think of these books?

Hannibal is fantastic, although it tails off towards the end. Watch the film after you have read the book, they change quite a few things in it, like getting rid of Margot and having Barney play a much smaller part, which was a shame as they were really interesting characters. However overall I prefer the film's ending to the books.
The best thing about the books to me is how Harris' writing style passively coaxes you into visualising a scene as if you were a close observer, which really lets you empathise with the characters. And Hannibal is the best anti-hero I have ever come across, he is an evil nasty sadistic manipulative bastard but you'll always end up rooting for him, not only against Mason, whose crimes are arguably less serious than Lecter's and Lecter has physically destroyed him, but even against Pazzi.
