Vampire Earth Series

It's a whole new spin on Vampires(well, it's the same principal).  So far there are six books, the first of which is called Way of the Wolf.

First two are good, then I somehow lost interest somewhere in the first third of the third. How are the later ones compared to the first two? Worth trudging through the third to get to them?

A Boy And His Dog - Harlan Ellison
I Am Legend - Richard Matheson (if that dreadful movie hasn't killed all respect for the story)
Souls in the Great Machine - Sean McMullen - Great theme and concepts even though the characters become ridiculous halfway through.

If your definitition of post-apoc also includes "dying earth" and "apocalyptic" titles, I enjoyed these:
