I discovered something horrible today.

Well, it isn't really that terrible, but it made for a good subject title. Anyway, I had been thinking about reading some or perhaps all of the books by Brandon Sanderson. Then I found out he was a Mormon.

In spite of this, are his books worth reading?

I keep on trying to tell myself that his religious beliefs probably don't factor into his books, but then I'm reminded that he's a Mormon, and anyone who believes that load of crap has to be nothing short of a colossal moron.

Am I just being intolerant? What does /book/ do when it discovers something terrible about an author it was either interested in or thought was good?

Yes you're being intolerant, but nobody's perfect.

The only unanimous opinion seems to be that the magic system in his Mistborn books kicks ass, otherwise the opinions are diverse enough to make it hard to deduce whether I'd, let alone you, like it. I have the first Mistborn book on the shelf for this very occasion. That, and because he's writing the last WoT book.

Hey, Card wrote some solid stuff before he (apparently) went nuts, so you might give Sanderson the benefit of the doubt too.
