Reading Tips?

Thanks to past k-12 schooling ruining reading for me, in so many freakin ways, I always have a hard time actually reading shit out of my textbooks in college, or normal non internet books in general for maybe some fun. It takes me forever and I start to seriously feel tired after a short while and I'm basically a TV and Internet whore now. Any tips?

comics.

the best way to really do anything is to do it. a lot. comics, especially dramatic ones tend to help out with getting back into reading.

after that you can find something you really like and reread it. fun novels. something you find entertaining.

when it comes to textbooks. reading with someone works wonders. it makes things easier to understand and the interactive element just makes things easier.

I hope that helps.

Heh, computer reading. Text files and whatnot. Most of the material in your house, you'll probably be able to find online somewhere. I have the same problem for read books, I'll get in a comfortable possition, read a few pages, and then just go into a coma.

I lol'd
It's so true. I just can't fall asleep on my computer, so that's just why I don't like reading actual books anymore, at least not in my room. I have a big, comfortable bed.

If you're reading a textbook then take notes. THOUSANDS OF THEM. It really helps. It not only makes you incapable of falling asleep because you're using your brain, but also helps you remember what you're reading and helps you comprehend some of the more difficult concepts without having to read a single paragraph over about 20 times. It also means you can just skim over your own notes for revision (You should be able to read what's written in your own way A LOT quicker).

Taking notes is the #1 way of paying attention while reading a text book in my experience.

If you find yourself falling asleep while reading a novel then said novel must suck.
