Looking for good books

I need some suggestions for books to read. Mostly fantasy or sci-fi, and no vampire or werewolves. Got any?

H.P. Lovecraft, check out his stuff.

Michael Moorcock has also some good stuff.

Lovecraft writes horror fantasy while Moorcock writes more traditional fantasy.

Moorcock is by no means traditional fantasy, though it's good to see that someone other than me is promoting him.

Buddy I'll push Moorcock until it bleeds :P

History of the Runestaff is epic. I also highly recommend Tim Powers, Earthquake Weather is well worth a read.

I honestly didn't think Gene Wolfe was that great, I don't understand how some people say he is the best living sci fi/fantasty writer. I only read that knight book and the first book of the new sun so maybe I'm missing something

I don't know about the Knight/Mage, but people usually like the Book of the New Sun because it complex and challenging. For example, did you notice that Severian is constantly lying to the reader, skipping important parts, etc. ? Not to mention all the symbolism, the obscure vocabulary and the sci-fi parts cleverly disguised as fantasy (there are more of these than you think)

Don't change these.
