The Catcher in the Rye

What does /book/ think of it?

I think it's really a profound and great read about adolescence that can be easily related to.

I read it when I was going into eighth grade. Even then, I saw right through the character's obvious hypocrisy by calling people a "phony" and lying left and right, and hated the shitty prose. J.D. Salinger should at least back up his novel, but the almost cowardly way he refuses to even acknowledge it just pushes my dislike over the "hate" limit.
