The massive leak of harry potter is a giant hoax.  Everything you have seen is fake...some guy wrote a fan fic, then made it into a hard copy of a book and took pictures.

Well, if it is a hoax, it's an awesome hoax. If it's not a hoax, I'm kind of disappointed with how it seems to be ending.

Yes, it seems very believable that somebody wrote an 800-page novel, drew forty chapter illustrations, had it published, and then took pictures of every single page to put on to the internet! That's far more likely than someone getting ahold of a copy of a book scheduled to come out in less than a week a few days early!

Note: publishing companies and ad-agencies could be behind this. With the whole "get everything as fast as possible and have 0day spoils" mentality that festers in online communities I'd assume that the people in charge of releasing this book have done some thinking about what they can do to quiet true leaks and try to keep real spoils to a minimum (especially with the whole "Snape Kills Dumbledore" fiasco last time). A launch like this doesn't quite come along all the time in publishing, these days. They might be willing to make a deal of it.

Now, I only came up with this off the top of my head thinking about the issues faced in this book launch, so there's probably issues. But, in addition to confusing people as to what leaks could be real, it would probably drum up more publicity. I'm sort of thinking (as the appearance of differing cam-scans of what appears to be legitimate copies of the book has suggested) there will be lots of different leaks coming up the next few days, of similar qualities to the first.

I'm probably wrong, but I hope I'm right. I don't want this series to end on quite as shitty note as these scans suggests.
