i don't know if it's gay literature, or if it's up-to-date, but i just finished reading Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris and i can recommend it. Absolutely hilarious, not really focused on gay though, but i'm not sure what it is you want.

Not gay myself, but the quintessential gay novel here in Australia (in my opinion) is Christos Tsiolkas' "Loaded" - which inspired the 1997 film "Head On".

In the fantasy genre:

Melusine, by Sarah Monette. Cover makes it look like a terrible romance book, though.

old thread is old.

Hay guys come on. If he read exclusively gay literature he wouldn't be asking here, would he? Sometimes (especially if you're the type of gay who visits 4chan) you want more exposure to mainstream gay culture.

Hero, by Perry Moore

Young adult superhero fiction, with the main character being gay. It's alright, but obviously the author's first book.

Don't change these.
