Thought:
The wizards of Harry POtter, and in fact any world where users of magic have built entire societies hidden from the public, are immensly selfish and greedy beyond humanity.
While we 'muggles' live in poverty, disease, hunger, desolation, ruin and a world that is slowly dying from our harmful technologies, they live in peaceful societies free from any of those things thanks to their mastery of these strange energies. They can heal cancer, create food from thin air, rebuild entire cities, provide free clean energy as an alternative to fossil fuels and side by side we could build a beautiful world free from so many problems and tragedies.
But no. They remain hiding in their glistening towers, hoarding all this knowledge and the secrets that could save mankind from themselves. Do they come forth and heal cancer? No. Do they use their powers to feed the hungry? No. They sit, and watch the muggle world crumble, as they have a nice cup of tea and shake their heads, some even laughing at us and the problems with our nations. Their ministry covers up all magic use in the public world, careful to make sure no one dares consider sharing all these life-saving wonders with those in need. It seems that greed resides in all the hearts of wizards. Even those JK Rowling would have us believe are so kind and warmhearted, never even ponder the thought of what the two worlds could be if united.
As much as I realise these books are works of fiction, I can't help but clench my knuckles in anger at this disgusting display of inconsideration.
