SciFantasy

Any good SciFi Fantasy books? Something that's like Star Ocean, where they're using swords and lasers and magic and technology. Something with a little more Fantasy then Star Wars though.
Are there any books where people would go around fighting Dragons with guns or unleashing fire spells against alien hordes. Are there any books like this? That... yaknow, don't suck.

Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun and Julian May's Saga of the Exiles, they're both pretty far from fighting dragons with guns though.
