Cover Question on Nabokov's Lolita

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-16 22:32

http://www.barbarasbookstore.com/Books/L/Lolita.htm

Was there a hardcover version of Lolita with this cover, or was it exclusively for the audio cd/old softcover version?

I'm thinking it might be this one:

But the publishers are different.

I would assume they're different because of the publishers, but I can't say for certain.  Incidentally, I've been meaning to buy a hardcover version of Lolita, but I haven't found one to my liking; if there is indeed one with that cover, I'd love to get one...

I know for certain the first link in the OP message is an old printing of a paperback version. It was also used on the 12 hour audio cd.

However the publisher for the 1st one is Vintage International, which also published the more recent shitty paperback cover with the lips in front.

The most recent hardcover is published by another (The sepia-ish color one with an old guy in front.).

I've never seen a publication of Lolita by Buccaneer Books however. I can't even find a conclusive cover in google.

I checked a few nearby libraries, they had first edition printing and even ones in spanish, but no Buccaneer Books version. Anyways, if you want the cover in the op pic, so far I've only found paper-bounded versions of it.

I looked through ebay. Every instance the op cover picture was used for an auction was for an old edition (Edition 1) of Vintage International, a division of Random House inc. from New York. Paperback only.

The audio CD is by Random House Audio, suggesting that they're the only ones who use that cover.

90% sure that the Buccaneer one is some other cover.

Don't change these.
