very entertaining.

I think one of Lolita's greatest strengths is its ability to humor and entertain the reader while also remaining essentially tragic at its core.  I know Humbert is basically a monster and an unreliable narrator, but his obsession with Dolores and the way he breaks her life just tears me apart.  Anyhow, from a technical aspect, I think the novel is nearly perfect, and I'm a sucker for the flowery language.  Also, I find it interesting how Nabokov, as an "outsider" to America, was able to capture its essence so well.

By the way, have you read any other Nabokov?  In some respects, I think Pale Fire is a better "novel" (I use the term loosely), but Lolita is still my favorite.

nabokov is such a cliche these days. i cant read that prose without it seeming hilariously contrived now.

i always felt as though dolores broke Humbert's life. He was a fool for it though.

Yeah, I felt bad for Humbert when I read the novel. Humbert had a psychological disease, and Dolores used it for her own ends.

oh go eat a bowl of fuck. your mindless adulation is rather unbecoming.  when will you shitheads learn that fellating nabokov's dead wang went out of style decades ago? if people cant shut the fuck up about nabokov already then at least i'm going to voice my disdain for you newb faggots.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but I'm curious as to exactly how you found Nabokov's prose contrived. I can understand how some of his early works can be viewed as banal, but his later prose never fails to delight me.

elegant gothic lolita = FANCY VICTORIAN DRESS
Nabakov lolita = PEDOFAGS
Get it right!

Actually, Elegant Gothic Lolita is a term that Mana (member of Malice Mizer) coined as part of his line.  "Lolita" is used to refer to the fashion as a whole, with different categories such as gothic, sweet, classic, et cetera.

Also, actually try reading Lolita first before posting here.

Great book.
If you haven't read it yet, do so to form your own opinion.

Its true that a lot of people hold it in such high regard that it rivals the bible in its fagotry fanboyism.

I found the greatest part of the book to be the part with the little girls and sex

Don't change these.
