Based on the recent threads in /b/ I belive this is a valid suggestion.

4chan is littered with copyrighted material, but whatever, the entire god-damned internet is.
We could simply have a board rule of "no copyrighted material." There are tons of great books in the public domain or other loose licenses that we could share within the board for mere convenience, and this has been greatly appreciated by everyone already). And even so, people could still use third parties for sharing copyrighted stuff, just like it already happens, all the time, and nobody ever complained.
A big disclaimer and some text explaining how 4chan's /lit/ strongly encourages people to go buy the books they liked would also help, and it would also be entirely true. I bought Zombie Survival guide after I read the ebook, and I wouldn't have if it wasn't for the ebook. A lot of people in 4chan bought House of Leaves because it has been greatly discussed in here.
But more importantly, a /lit/ board would focus mostly on discussion of books, and I don't see why would that a problem at all.
So you see, the idea for a /lit/ board is great, and it should happen.
