nope i read good books. I like stephen king, robin hobb, phillip pullman, terry pratchett, george rr martin and more. Daniel Handler is a bitch. He's milking the series for all he can get. The first couple of books were ok but then it got lame. his characters are pretentious pussies too. He uses big words then gives kids the wrong definition of them ie. a definition relevant to the plot which gives them wrong idea of the word. JK Rowling is actualy better.
after you writing that I'm surprised to see you write that Stephen King and Terry Pratchett are still good and handler is a bitch milking it for what its worth...it seems hypocritical, a word which in this sense means the pot calling the kettle black

Also the aforementioned authors don't 'milk it' ok the Dark Tower series was long, granted but with the majority of the books you're not obliged to read 13 books at £6.99 each just to get the freakin' story. They're not my favourite authors either, I was just mentioning competent authors that would be suitable for the reader that would fit into the older half of Handler's target audience. (Maybe not King...)

ooh, and Lemony Snicket is available from 80% of places for a lot cheaper than £6.99 (which isn't that much for a hard back seriously) - in fact, just the other day in TESCO's which we all know and love I saw it going for a mere £4.50, not to mention the genius of Amazon.
But yeah, too many rubbish authors milking one single idea for what its worth. I like Lemony Snicket because someone dies in each book, humourous definitions, a surprising amount of swearing (all spoken by Sunny)and a coherent structure throughout which if you are intersted in complex relationships this supplies.
