Has anyone here ever read House of Leaves? It is the scariest fucking book I've ever read!

Scary, no. But it was pretty nice.

it was very well thought out. the guy spent about a decade putting it together. but all the codes and stuff got annoying. i enjoy hidden messages as much as the next bloke but it gets old. the house was a good concept as was the minituar but it was too similar to something that i'd actually thought of and started writing (abandoned after reading house of leaves and knowing there'd be no point) for me to be too excited by it. i found myself alot more interested in johny's story and struggles. still, a great book to spend many hours digging through for the hidden plots and codes when you have nothing better to do.
see the internet for hundreds of boards of people discussing them

There's also the Whalestoe Letters which are letters to Johnny from his mom, it elaborates a little bit more on his past.
