what can you tell me about this book? I heard about it from a guy on /tv/ and he says it's great. I put it on hold at the library and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. The name of the book sounds so.. powerful that I just can't wait to read it even though I've only heard people describing it.

The beginning is good, the middle is awesome and the end is good again

they had a cameo of that book and the rest of the series in suzumiya haruhi lol what a shitty anime
But yeah most of it's good, it's seperated into like 8 different novellas with the main story behind it. It mainly works as an introduction to the rest of the series but its still awesome. Most of the stories are great, especially the one about the catholic missionary, and even the ones that suck shit compared to the rest are still good reads.
I'd give it like an 8.5/10

I completely agree. Hyperion is awesome! I liked the story with the android that is modelled after John Keats or something.
Hyperion's Fall is even better.

How are "Endymion" and "Rise of Endymion"?

They're good as well and tie up the story of Hyperion nicely. And when you're done with them, you can move on to Ilium and Olympos.
Now, regarding Hyperion/Endymion books. Seriously, read up at least a little on the life and works of John Keats. Hell, read the relevant poems, if you're up to it. You'll get a lot more out of Simmons' books that way. Hint: it goes way beyond an android modelled after him.

why did olympos suck so horribly? hyperion was awesome, then ilium was pretty neat and olympos just closed it horribly.

I tried reading some of his poems, like Hyperion.. but they're REALLY LONG. Which poems are the ones that help you further understand the book? And yea, I read his biography and everything.
