if you're an english major, it's wrong. if you're a linguistics major, it's right. basically, linguistics has a thing called prescriptive vs descriptive language. prescriptive language is where people make rules for a language and apply them to people's use of it, while descriptive is where you just see how people naturally use the language and write the rules based on that.
so a prescriptivist would say, "it's wrong". a descriptivist would say, "it's fine to use, since lots of people do, and it's not like it'll impair your communication ability (people know what you're saying, even if they think you're saying it wrong), but some elitist fucks will bitch at you for doing it"
