I've read the Bible (I'm Christian), the Quran, and the Book of Mormon (including the D&C and the PoGP). The Quran was okay, a lot of it read like Psalms. The BoM pulled too much of the shit that Samuel/Kings/Chronicles do for most of the middle of it (this king did this, this people fought that people, blah, blah, blah) so was kind of boring for that, but the parts where things actually happened weren't that bad.

Yeah, if you want a good modern translation of the Bible, I'd recommend the New Living Version. It has very modern text but stays very literal to the original languages. Translations like the NRSV and the NASB are much harder to read. The NIV is okay.
