The books aren't even written by or for furries. Thus, bigger fail. What stupid books, the only one I read had this kid who could transform into a cow, but never knew he transformed into a FEMALE until someone pointed it out, then he...did some wiccywacky bullshit with a bull and could turn male now. WTF

#35? Weird, I was under the impression that there were like 70 books.

Close. 64 if you count the books outside of the main linear plot.

There were 52 or 53 total... the ending was basically the earth finding out about the brain-slugs, the centaur-aliens never came (I think they sent some message some time saying like "lol dudes your planet is fucking worthless, maybe we'll send some help later if you're lucky")... or maybe their help consisted of like one small ship coming to help out that wasn't really much use. I think the animorphs scored some major hit on the yeerks and basically it was open war on earth against them, I beleive marco got his mom back, visser three maybe died, rachel died, jake and cassie split up... it had a pretty depressing and realist ending.

If you feel like it. It's children's sci-fi, so it's not like it's particularly spectacular (or difficult) to read, so it wouldn't take you very long. They'd probably make for amusing weekend-reader material.
I would say the plot overall is pretty decent; it gets more mature as the series moves along. I actually remember enjoying some of the 'spin off' books a lot more than the main series. Visser was fantastic.
