What books should not get a film adapation?

There are some books that are only good in the reader's mind.  Discuss.

All of them except the bad ones.

Adaptions are Satan's gamble, you can't rely on a yes or no for all of them. Besides, the best adaptations aren't adaptations at all. For instance, The Shining or Solyaris. These movies simply said: character names? room descriptions? back cover synopsis? Thanks, we're good to go.

That's the best honor you can do to a book, in my opinion: rewrite it in your own way. If someone wanted to read a book, they would. Movies serve a different purpose, they draw from the human mind and its visual and auditory associations, not from words.

Of course, I've never seen a word-by-word adaptation, so I'm unsure how well it would work.
