Why does Larry Niven hate environmentalists?

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-10 1:24

Recently I read his book "Fallen Angels"; the backstory involves the Green Party being elected, banning all advanced technology, and bringing on an ice age.
He has also apparently written "Lucifer's Hammer", where the main characters are in a nuclear plant being attacked by savage environmentalists who are cannibals are something.

So is he just an enormous troll or did a book about global warming kill his mother?

Read more Niven and you won't see that view, although you will see alien gangbang orgies.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Elf Sternberg?

Those were at least Pak descendents.

Ugh. Niven has the most horrid characterization I've ever had the mispleasure of reading.

Yeah, his characters suck, but his plots are pretty cool.

Niven sucks. Seinfeld sucks. Niven's purportingly (and cringingly not) biographical series sucks. I think he is a Jew, cause he's always bleeting on about the holocaust, and most probably views himself as some sort of patriarchal media producer for the stupid plebs. He will also be rich and content with his life, although ultimately not anywhere near the top of the human food chain. Oh, sorry, I am writing about Larry David.  Well, now you'll know to avoid him, anyway. Peace out.

You fail at posing at Inst, the "gayage" is a bit too obvious. WTF is Larry Niven?

In more Larry Niven news, I just stopped reading Saturn's Race. The book is completely serious in every way and is set in some attempt at a realistic near-future. Then it introduces a Japanese character who is DESCENDED FROM A SECRET FAMILY OF NINJAS. At least he isn't William Gibson.

I always enjoyed Niven's earlier stuff, like in the 60s and 70s.  He began sucking in the late 70-early 80s (though I recall liking The Integral Trees and The Smoke Ring).  Now he's basicly just an old pervert.  You can see his disintegration in the compilation books Crashlander and Flatlander.  I don't know when the most of the stories in Flatlander were written, but the first two were pretty good.  The third was okay.  The fourth (1980) wasn't so good.  The last story was total suck.

Don't change these.
