I have completed the Hitchhiker's series.  Recommend other books that are good.  I've heard that his Dirk Gently series is pretty good, the Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul being the best one.

Awesome show, and the books aren't bad - but:
a) theres only a couple of them
b) probably should watch the show first to get to know the characters
