It's far too commercial a medium to be good.  Same problem television in general has.  There's some good stuff here or there, but the focus is more often on making something that will sell than it is on making quality art.

I don't know.  Maybe if Japan's economy was better and studios just had tons of money to throw around they'd just start funding crazy shit because they can, but that's not going to happen any time soon.

I wouldn't say this exactly, but a change in scenery would be nice. Even if it was just kids in high school, how about different types of kids, different types of high schools, or any change in scenery.
