Since this is a metathread, I don't want to be a fag posting it in the imageboard, and the newfags don't visit the textboard anyways.
Is there a way to make /a/ a little less cancerous? I mean with the MAL shit, dubs shit, I just finished eva shit, blog shit, naruto shit and most importantly the normalfaggotry, /a/ has gone straight to shit in less than a month.
/a/ is no longer a place where we can discuss anime and manga in an intelligent manner, a place where we can enjoy the current season, a place where you can talk about this without your typical weeaboo faggot. /a/ is now a place full of retards trolling each other (perhaps from places where posting in 4chan = epic win ur so edgy and cool lolol) with "moe is the cancer killing the industry", "my tastes > your tastes", "why are you alone", "your waifu is not real" etc.
Do you guys want to continue with this endless chain of shit? I think not.
What to do? Well, we can't do anything of course because it is up to the moderators to MODERATE the content of the board, but we can help the board by saging and reporting useless troll threads, not trolling or posting greentext shit stories, not reposting threads you made just yesterday, reply to newfags or obvious gaiafags in a really aggresive manner (this will scare them away, hopefully) etc.
I know I will probably be called a faggot just for doing this thread, but a long time ago /a/ was the only thing I had, and it is really frustrating to see it in this state of cancer and not being able to do anything.

DEAL with it.

There's probably little that can be done short of posting obscene shit that'll probably get you banned to maybe purge new lurkers. Sorry brah.
Hey. /prog/rammer here. Back in a while, some shitty mental kids started raiding our board with "PUDDI" shit. I just left it for a while and when I came back, everything was neat again.
So basically, what >>2 said. There isn't much you can do about it but let it go.

None of the things this guy is talking about matters. Even if /a/ wasn't meant to be totally unique in the way it is, rather than just another anime board, it's not like there aren't other places for you to go.
Boards often go through periods of degradation, and when they're done with that, they are born anew. And I mean all of what you're describing isn't all that bad if you just learn to like it (srsly). I did this, and my entire imageboard experience increased tenfold.

I'm expecting it to change after Valentines. I hope most if this emoticon faggotry and circlejerking goes away around 2/20 or something because this is really deplorable.

/a/ never was. How long have you actually been on /a/?
Call me a newfag but I've been browsing /a/ since about Spring 2007, and things have more or less stayed the same. Either go with the flow or get left behind like a grumbling faggot.
Popular shows are popular.

You are a newfag. I've been on /a/ since early 2005. Shit has died. Memes have died. Humor has died. Intelligence, knowing when, why, and if to post: dead.

It's because it was already bad in 2007

I knew Valentines was going to be bad with a lot of /sp/ and /b/ raiding, but surprisingly enough it was /a/ that made it pure shit

You still sound like a fag that harkens back to wanting his super secret club. Take your nostalgia goggles off.
Notice how this thread turned into shit within 10 posts, my dear "oldfags".
>reply to newfags or obvious gaiafags in a really aggresive manner
>we can help the board by [repression and no content, ie in a negative way]
Community management at its best.

Since you did not emphasize your point with appropriate [s]BB[sub][i]Code[i][/sub][/s], one must assume that you are new to the text boards as well.

it can't be that bad, i recently got banned from a dubs thread for accidentally getting dubs while sageing. So apparently they're just mass banning dubs now regardless of intent if they take place in a dubs thread. Be warned.

17 here, also, it was a permaban and not just a 3 day or even 1 week ban.

typically you're not suppose to post in the thread at all,
just ignore and report

This, theres no point. I'm from /m/ but still occasionally lurk in /a/
And I hear you OP, but you can't fix /a/ to whatever way you liked it without changing everybody else. Regardless, this is /a/ now. Whatever you mentioned thats infested /a/ is actually what /a/ is (for now).
Its like how I couldn't get into moe, but its not like all of /a/ is moe( or is it?) I occasionally find a thread that interests me (discussing upcoming kaiji) Try to look for threads that interest you the next time you browse and just ignore the trolls.

I started coming here when the Karin anime was showing, so early 2006.
While /a/ has always been shit, it's also been been tolerable compared to other places I've been (like animesuki). In the past couple years though, the board has really lost it's identity, especially after the split. Pretty much all memes and other inside jokes that helped to give /a/ a high barrier to entry are gone, and I believe it's now easier to become part of 4chan than to join gaia.
All I can say is stick to the less-treaded areas and learn irc.
/a/ is and forever will be the best place to discuss quality anime and manga online, regardless of your post count or how many e-friends you have to circlejerk your thread
irc, or should i say the whole rizon server is pretty much a hangout for serious anime bros, in my opinion
Your blog is outrageous! I mean, Ive never been so entertained by anything in my life! Your vids are perfect for this. I mean, how did you manage to find something that matches your style of writing so well? Im really happy I started reading this today. Youve got a follower in me for sure!

If there were enought good posters the quality would improve ergo /a/ is full of bad posts, also tripfags have degenerated a lot latelly.

If you thought this was bad wait until summer. Think Sunday peak hour but a lot lot worse.

I'm aware of that. Sadly
I think I'll go to /jp/ during summer or something. Another thing that I fear is when Lotte no Omocha airs, I believe /a/ will suffer an inner split between the newfags/normalfags and the typical /a/non that doesn't even care about Lotte or likes it.

/a/ is what it is because it is popular
take this into consideration, about three years ago /a/ had I think about 9 million posts now its nearing 50 million posts.
slower more niche boards tend to have a more savor userbase
though that is the trend and not nessisarily the rule.
