I see a lot of "otaku", that is people who are extreme fans of Japanese animation like to bash American cartoons. I've seen a few go after classics like Bambi and Looney Tunes. I didn't know sexual innuendo, national and racial stereotypes, use of alcohol and tobacco, and violence were "kiddy". Are you sure you're not talking about Bob The Builder and not Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies? Also the animation techniques of the 30's and 40's were way ahead of their time and even today with CGI are difficult to match the quality of.

I agree the golden age of anime is better than a lot of the crap American cartoons of today, but I also agree with you TC that it's ridiculous when they go after the classics. The works that influenced Osamu Tezuka the father of anime.

Fans of American cartoons and comics need to stand up more and defend from the constant bashing that goes on in snobbish otaku circles.
