In the past year, I've only watched .hack//sign and Blue Submarine No. 6. I went to Anime Central and pretty much didn't know what was going on as usual. I figure I'm too nostalgic about the Toonami age. I find myself rewatching series and hunting down the Sci-Fi Channel's Saturday morning anime block movies/ OVAs instead of seeking out new anime.
The most recent series I've watched are Gurren Lagann and Speed Grapher. I have a whole summer ahead of me. I'm out of the loop, so what do you recommend that will rekindle my interest in anime?

I'm 22. Most of the anime I like is action-ish and a single, sweet season (13-26 episodes). It is hard to dedicate myself to longer series, partly because I don't have the time, and partly because they spread the story so thin that it doesn't hold my interest.
My favorite has to be Kino's Journey with Cowboy Bebop close behind. I do enjoy the occasional comedy or even drama. The movies they played on SciFi hold a special place in my heart - A-Ko, Venus Wars, Green Legend Ran...

Ok then, my previous sugestions were a good pick then. Elfen Lied is another, though it is very bloody and graphic. There i also Vandread, it has two seasons but only 13 episodes in each season, it is something you can really laugh over. Lets see... Mezzo the tv series (i not a hentai), .hack//roots, may sound weird but the three Nanoha series (Nanoha, Nanoha A's, and Nanoha StrikerS). These hould keep you busy for a bit.
