acually, I read it in a magazine long time ago.  It was aniamerica I think from 2001 or 2002.  It gave many explanations on some of anime that were popular then and the changes that it had to go through to be show here.  Easy research now on wiki or forums lets you find the same thing out but hey it worked back then.  If there are any other questions like this one I can try to help you find out.
