In the anime, there's walkie talkies and video games. Though, I thought it was supposed to take place in somewhat a fictional Japanese kinda world.

Any word if there's a time period Naruto is supposed to take place in, or no?

I remember a page where sasuke and friends went to this abandoned city that looks disturbingly like a present-day city in Japan, concrete buildings and billboards and shit. It is a possibility.
