"Voices of a Distant Star" made me cry too and I personaly love "Chobits" to peices.
Other good romantic ones are:
"Ceres, Celestial Legend"
"A.I. Love You"
and
"Ah! My Goddess"
ah! my goddess gets a bit off track in the manga and is realy silly for a good chunk in the middle. But overall I loved all the versions of ah! my goddess. The Ah! My Goddess movie is the most consintrated romance in the series and is heart-wrenching.
