(By visual novel I mean "H game" type games, whether they be H or not.)
I'm just starting to explore subgenre. I played Kana and thought it was pretty good. I watched the Kanon anime and also liked it. I'm planning on playing/watching the other big titles in the visual novel genre, like Air and To Heart.
But when there is an anime adapation how should I decide which to view first - the game or the anime? Viewing one will significantly spoil the other. Obviously the games have the H content, but that can be enjoyed at anytime. For seeing the story is it better to play the game first since it is the original story, or would the anime be preferred since you don't have to think about story branches?
