I tend to dislike comedies

Ive since long gotten tired of american sitcom shows or comedies.
So when I came to manga/anime world I had fresh hope in my chest for something refreshing, maybe not something that spun my world around its own axis, but still.. something entertaining.

To take some well known examples: Azumanga Lucky Star Exel Saga FLCL Paniponi Dash! ect.

I watched those and I could say that while they were really nice to watch the first time or so I could see that the novelty of anime in the same genre wore off pretty fast. I recognized the same jokes, some characters/scenarios that wound up quite similar . Its almost always in the middle part I enjoy the most in the case of manga comedies, while in anime you already have a script you are supposed to use as a compass. I feel like the experience really doesnt show quality significance in the big picture, but rather in each of the individual episodes themselves.

But.. If I can figure out a pattern in early eps I could also sometimes predict the next episode.. of course there are exceptions to this, because Im not some kind of God..
You see what I mean.

And I really liked comedies at one point in my life but for some reason I can\'t find them funny anymore and this makes me so sad.

Can you give some examples of what you are talking about when you say:

"Its almost always in the middle part I enjoy the most in the case of manga comedies, while in anime you already have a script you are supposed to use as a compass. I feel like the experience really doesnt show quality significance in the big picture, but rather in each of the individual episodes themselves."

(ack, how do you block quote anyways?)

Generally I find myself laughing out loud the hardest when it is small bits of comedy in anime that is otherwise not a comedy show.  I don't like FLCL style comedy all that much (at least definitely not as much as most people seem to like that show).  One 'pure' comedy I really did love was School Rumble.  I'm not sure if the style is similar to the other shows you mentioned, have you seen it?

One thing I agree with is that sitcoms/live action comedies do not entertain me anymore.  Anime comedy has more spontaneity.  Cartoon-like visual expressions also make me smile, but it is often strongly associated with cliched anime humor (I still usually like it though).

the problem is that you take comedy way too seriously. it's COMEDY damnit, get over yourself.

Don't change these.
