...and could use some recommendations...

I just finished watching Haibane Renmei. The art style was great, but the fairly short length (at 13 episodes) made it come off a little strange. I really liked it, but I'm not sure if I either really enjoyed the conflict between the "feel-good" portions and the dark portions, or whether I wished there would be more of one than another.

Now that I've finished Haibane, I'm trying to figure out what to watch next. I've really enjoyed Gunslinger Girl, Kanon (the 2006 remake), Honey & Clover (both seasons), and Mushishi. My problem is trying to figure out other animes based on this list. I've hopped around a bit, although I do recognize some connections (Kanon and H&C both being relationship based, some dark themes running through all of them, etc.).

I did especially enjoy Kanon (mostly for the complete mindfuck it repeatedly provides). Gunslinger Girl definitely sits up on the top as well... With this, I really don't know where to turn next.

Any suggestions? It would be much appreciated, as my overall knowledge of what's out there is minimal (most of my research has consisted of looking at AnimeReactor yearly awards, and searching related anime on anidb).

Thanks in advance.

Don't change these.
