Why is this plotless crap popular? The plot, characters, animation, and voices all suck ass. People often say Naruto is the next big anime. No it isn't. I liked Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!. I don't like Naruto. I don't care about Naruto and Sasuke having to suck each other's dicks to save the Hokage crystals or whatever the plot is.

Why is it popular? Probably because they like something about it. Just like with the other series. I wouldn't call Naruto plotless in comparison to Pokemon of all things though.

Characters like Itachi and Neji are the favorite with large fan base, that why Naruto is popular. Now that they are being kill off by Kishi, so is popular era ending !

Because good story that's about bringing peace to a world full of hatred and war. Uchiha and senju are like israelis and arabs, that's the parrelel if you want to understand how hard it is to make peace.

Naruto is popular because of memorable characters, childish setting and everyone can find a character to like and root for.
Also, I like the artwork, to be honest, it isn't half bad.
