danbooru dead????

can someone please explain this to me. danbooru.donmai.us was taken down today? can someone please explain. I loved this ssite with all my heart and now its gone like that. imm sooo angry right now.   if you dont know what it was it was a hentai search engine where you could post comments on any pics.   i honestly dont know how i will find my hentai now its been soo long seince ive needed to

As far as I can tell, it all boils down to a lack of financial support. Reading the messages on Danbooru's Strawberry Heaven board a few hours before the shutdown, some of the messages talked about a lack of bandwidth and a server failing. Even though the guy running the show also mentioned something about to many people posting junk that he decided to remove for lack of taste and/or talent, I get the feeling he just didn't have the capacity to hold postings from everyone and that deleting postings and disabling new member sign-ups as well as cancelling the memberships of some who were already signed up was a way of hopefully delaying the inevitable until more bandwidth and more servers could be afforded or donated. But obviously that didn't happen, so I guess the only thing he could do in a situation where demand exceeded his supply was to fold. That's only what I think however. I'd only been visiting the site for about a year and am no authority on what happened. I also am going to miss the site. I found out about the site from a link in a web comic and found out about 4chan from postings on danbooru.

thanks a million mark. im soo disapointed that was a site i can truely call grand. i remember when i was young hoping for a site like that to come along some day and it did but now it is gone. do you know any other places on the net that are half as good as that?

He needs to put it back up for awhile so we can atleast get a fraction of the content off of it. For any given anime, it was probably one of the largest depositories of hentai material based on the anime (such as Bleach and Naruto, HUGE database of material for popular animes such as those two)

If the owner of Danbooru reads this, if you take donations, you could probably get enough to keep the site going! Atleast try!

Sadly, I personally don't know any sites even half as good as Danbooru was. However, if you look at the Imageboards threads in the Text Boards section of this site, you will find info on other anime image board sites. I just got finished looking at 2 such sites.
    Another option to try is to go onto webcomic sites. They tend to have imageboards of their own as well as links to other imageboards (Usually in the commentary, that's how I found out about Danbooru). Or you can go to Google, Yahoo or whoever and use their search engine to generate a list of sites to check out.
    If you can read in a language other than English, you can check out websites in a country that uses that language (Or stick to websites of English-speaking countries like Britain). If you think you can learn enough Japanese in a reasonable amount of time, you can definitely search those sites (Admittingly, I've following links to those sites to look around even though I can't read the language. They sure do like bright colors.).
    And of course, anime DVDs, manga books, and related review magazines will also list sites to check out. A manga called Hayate the Combat Butler gave the publishing company's manga review site and in the author's commentary, the author mentions the site of the Japanese publisher. The upshot is of course that these site may have imageboard or links to such.
    I guess I'm saying that the best you can do is find an anime/manga site, and search it for imageboards or links to such. And now I'm off to follow my own advice.

Your advice sucks, Danbooru can't be replaced. It better go back up or I'll be pissed off.

Speaking of which, does anyone happen to have the Bleach section of the site ripped? I was in the process of downloading all the images, and only got 4 or 5 pages in (when it went down ><)

I hate to be a Japanophile here, but why the hell does Japan have no problem keeping quality hentai sites going but Western ones crash every frigging other week? We are the goddamn economic kings here, lets step this shit up and start acting like we have more then just a bunch of natural resources to be proud of! Arrrgh!

I looked into it a bit further, and I think it's because people posted so much Lolicon on Danbooru, and he had no means of cleaning it constantly, that he is closing it down. Could be wrong, but I see no reason why it couldn't be funded by ads or donations. I know the chances of an actual explanation for the closure are slim to none, but I wish the owner of Danbooru would either A:Reconsider, B:Make a Site Rip so someone else can take over, or C: Just give the site away to someone with the will to keep it going.

I know it's not going to happen though =/ Guess it's back to trying to get paper's at animepaper or credits at Minitokyo (of which I have a ton, thanks to some Vectors and Wallpapers I did. Make one wallpaper and you are set for life at Minitokyo aslong as the series is semi-popular)

For anyone who started to a hentai site to pretend they have a problem with lolicon or rape is absurd. If you love hentai enough to build a website then you are not opposed to two of its most common themes. That would be like saying I like chicks, but not their breasts. He might not like extreme loli, but otherwise I doubt he cares. As with most sites, its prob a server and money based problem.

sagubooru.com looks to be the next danbooru.

Yeah, I think I'd rather have a Japanese site that works with a lot of banners then a American one that doesn't work at all.
