How do manga/anime drawers get their ideas?

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-28 16:41

Ok maybe the question sounds silly. I started to learn to draw Manga/Anime style several years ago, still not top but improved. BUT: scanning through the image boards, I see my biggest problem is, how do drawers think of all those poses?

I mean ok I can use a photo as reference or another drawing. It is not so much a technical problem, I can draw most poses with relative precision, I just totally lack the ideas. :((

So if any of you draw let me know how you do it, or if you know drawing ppl ask them, I'd love to know. ^^

I know what you mean. Most American-made "how to" books aren't very useful (not that the Graphic-sha books are much better).

I didn't clarify it earlier, but I was referring to the pose books where it's just a collection of photos. Those are usually the best. Since they don't have to get anything drawn, there are usually more poses (all they have to do is snap a photo). Since they don't have to draw anything, there's also never any questionable poses or anatomy issues.

Even Antarctic Press makes decent pose books (the photo kind).
