Okay so I just finished the last book of the Akira manga. Can someone help explain the ending? Why did Kaneda take over the Great Tokyo Empire? He didn't like the empire when Tetsuo ran it, so is he trying to carry on his legacy or something? At the very end as they were riding in the last pages the world looked rebuilt, was that suppost to be a glimpse of the future or the past or some sort of idealized dream or what? Any interpretations would be appreciated.
