Going to the US - Where to buy stuff?

Hiya.

I'm going on a class trip to the US for 5 weeks in October, and I want to buy some anime DVD's, fantasy books... In general I wanna visit the "nerd shops" that specialize in stuff like that :)

The problem is that I don't know where to look for them. I'm going to visit Denver, Kalispell, Salt Lake City, San Fransisco, Los Angeles / Hollywood, Las Vegas and Santa Fe... That's a few of the places I'm visiting anyway. So I'm wondering if any of you fellow anonymouses has some tips as to where I might find that kind of stores? If they have a website or road descriptions or anything like that, it would be a major plus.

because you get to see the item firsthand before you pay for it, this is important especially for figurines and models. and you get to take it back with you instead of waiting for it to arrive.
