Giant Robot anime rules:
Hand-to-hand combat is always more damaging than guns and nuclear weapons (every giant-robot show ever)
Untrained kids are better pilots than military professionals (about half of Gundam's series, Zone of Enders, Evangelion, RahXephon, etc.)
Aliens always attack Japan; and if other nations have giant robots to help out, Japan's are always superior.
