Non-Asian anime/manga drawings

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-11 20:38

I noticed that pretty much all non-japanese anime/manga drawings  do not seem japanese/asian enough, they look similar , but when  comparing one from an amercian author and comparing it with some random japanese stuff(though korean/chinese drawings show similar traits) , you will be able to tell the 2 of them apart. It's easy to take something "weeabo" like megatokyo and some random japanese doujin(not necesarilly professional work) and you will be able to tell them appart rather easily.
So my question is , is it possible for a non-asian person to draw like one?

P.S.:I don't draw or have much experience doing it,but this thing has been bothering me for a while, especially when seeing so many people trying to imitate this type of drawings.

LOL!  Of course not, it's in the genes.

It's even pretty easy to tell Corean and Chinese manga apart from Japanese if you know what to look for.  Of course, some Japanese manga can be mistaken for foreign ...

Well, it took afew decades for them Japanese folx to
perfect the style, so naturally the Westerners
shouldn't be able to duplicate it within afew years.
But the current generation of kids've been bombarded with
all the Anime/Game stuff like 24 hrs/day, so it is possible
it becomes something natural for them.

Yes it is possible, and Im ok with it as long as it isnt labeled as "manga".
