Elistist.

>there's an anime which forces them to come face to face with the fact that they are stupid.

How about coming face to face with the fact that you're watching childrens' shows and think they're really deep? Sounds rather dumb to me.

Elitists are some of the biggest idiots around, especially the elitists within nerd communities.

"Heh, you actually play that Grand Theft Auto bullshit? I stick with quality games like the original Metroid and Adventure Island."

"You guys are watching dubbed Outlaw Star? On a R1 DVD?! LMAO! What a bunch of n00bs! I'm gonna go home and watch the uncensored subbed version that I stole off of the net on my new laptop."

Get your head out of your ass! Maybe if you dipshits actually gave the stuff a fair chance, and weren't so obsessed with being different, you'd actually know what you were talking about, and you might see why everybody likes it so much.

That being said, maybe elitists wasn't the best word to use on these guys... mindless trolls sounds about right.

I am elite.  My refined tastes are beyond understanding for the average anime fan.

Couldn't you at least try?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 10:12

To be blunt, I agree with alot of your post but I gave dubs a try. The 90's will forever scar me.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 10:26

Its not the 90s anymore. Every now and then you'll run into throw away dubs like Love Hina or Crest of the Stars, but for the most part, dubs have gotten much better. They almost always put a good amount of effort into the voice work and script writing these days, and it shows. Some modern dubs (i.e. Berserk, Yu Yu Hakusho) even go so far as to surpass the original Japanese track.

so true

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 11:10

>>18
That's very debatable. I find most english va's make my ears bleed. There are a few dubs that are done suprisingly well but I don't feel like dropping $30 for the first DVD just to find out.

Most people who prefer subbed don't even understand/speak Japanese to a degree that would allow them to ask somebody in Tokyo for directions. Yet they claim that they can accurately assess the quality of the Japanese language track in any anime.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 15:19

>>21
And your point is?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 21:06

>>24
I don't care what is said, I go by what I think sounds better.  Japanese, that is.  I can not explain why I prefer Japanese as I am a student of neither audio nor linguistics.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-29 21:14

>>21
I never said I spoke Japanese or testified to the quality of any fansub. I said that I prefered the Japanese voiceactors, not because they are speaking Japanese or because they are Japanese, but because I find their voices better fitted to most roles and rather soothing.

And I can understand a fansub just fine. The question is, can you read too?

So you need to be an expert in audio/linguistics to decide what you like? I'll be damned.

This thread if full of niggers.

>but because I find their voices better fitted to most roles and rather soothing.

Weird, can you give me an example? I usually find the voices (especially of girls) equally high pitched and annoying in both audio tracks.

>>27
You need to understand the language obviously. I don't know what's so absurd about that.

O RLY?

I can't see your reasoning behind that.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 7:08

Otherwise there would be no point in using spoken language at all. Everything would come with subtitles and actors would make calm or excited grunt noises, depending on the mood of their character.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 11:23

>>34
eh?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 11:37

I think Japanese sounds better than grunting.  English does not, however.

Weeaboo.

Yes, got a problem with that, loser?

It automatically makes all your arguments invalid.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 20:08

>>39
No, it does not, that is a logical fallacy.  Your argument is invalid.

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-30 21:41

>>40
Yes it does. Now go fap to a map of Japan, you human fallacy.

Name: Anonymous 2006-07-01 8:26

I know you're doing it all the time anyway.
