Cartoon Network have announced a scheme to draw more viewers to their own cartoons such as Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Lab and gain added profit.
We had a chat to a spokesperson from Cartoon Network about this new scheme.
"Well, we all sat down and had a long discussion about it, and finally came up with a nice little idea to call our Cartoon Network exclusive 'toons, Anime," spokesperson Daniel Haig said. "We came to the conclusion that this would bring upon a larger fan-base and much more profit from merchandise."
While the idea was brought forward to a committee and agreed upon, this also brings forth the issues of lying just to make an extra buck.
"Well we took a look at it from a much broader perspective. The word 'Anime' generally translates to 'animation' or 'cartoon' so we saw absolutely no fault in calling our releases 'Anime'. We can't just limit the word 'Anime' to Japanese cartoons just because the word is Japanese. Besides, personally, I can't tell the difference between Powerpuff girls and Japanese cartoons in terms of style. Drawing, sure. But the general swing of things are exactly the same. I'm sure in a few years time our new trend will stick and kids will be drawn to Cartoon Network when they first learn about Anime."
Guys this better fucking be bullshit.
