I've been thinking...

You know the whole thing about "support this anime by buying the DVDs when they come availible" and the whole fansubbing morality thing? I was thinking about it and realized that, from my point of view, it's actually immorall to buy the localized DVDs. I mean really, the point of supporting the companies are so that they'll license more anime, but when they license more anime that means they release it and fansubbers don't. Truth be told, I'd much rather watch fansubs. The subtitles are usually just as good, and with the exception of a few titles from Geneon, the dubs are totally not worth watching. In the end I think I'd be happier if most anime distributers went out of buisness. Therefore I urge all of you not to buy R1 DVDs from companies like ADV. If we're lucky they'll all go out of buisness which is actually in our own best intrests. Buying DVDs is like going to a donut store. There's a fresh donut that's being given away for free. You could get that, or you could go buy the same donut at another shop, only it's smashed and stale.

Okay, bad metaphore but you know what I mean.

Uh, actually these days Japan isn't enough to sustain their own anime market, so if you don't buy anything they won't be able to make any more shows. Or they'll make only shitty moe otaku-pandering, since those sell well in Japan.
