Eva's packed with religious themes where as E7 Isn't about any of that.

And it's cool. At least it doesn't follow all the same patterns most animes do (good first ep - story gets somewhere till eps 10 - 12 or 13 is recap eps - then nothing happens till the last 2 episodes where they cram everything they can get their hands on into the storyline for closure)
